Free Discipleship Resource: How to Read God’s Word

Welcome to 2019! A lot of people have set goals this year for better health, more adventures, or a simpler life. This is all great! I am a big fan of goals, as they give us something to work for day in and day out.
Accomplishing a big goal is an astounding feeling.

Goals are good — both personally and professionally. As you are going into 2019, I hope you have set some ministry goals too. Maybe you want to see more volunteers? Maybe you want to increase your attendance? Maybe you want to do twice as many lock-ins? (For me, that’d still be zero.)

Here is a simple goal that changed everything in my ministry — I resolved to help my students study scripture on their own.

A few years ago, our small group leaders pointed out that most of my students were only reading their Bibles on Wednesday nights, so we decided to do something about it! Our team started making devotional content for them to engage throughout the week. We gave them practical tools to help them study scripture on their own.
This made a huge impact!

Our students got more engaged. They began volunteering more. They started inviting their friends. We even saw students radically engage in worship who used to stand like statues during the set. It all started with our Bible Study tools and resources!

Here is one of the tools we create for them — a simple postcard-sized handout about engaging scripture. We encouraged them to keep it in their Bible, so they could access it whenever they were working through a reading plan. You can download the handout here. You can download this resource as a PDF 8.5 x 11 standard page or as a 4 x 6 postcard.
