Here is a free sermon series on 1 & 2 Thessalonians for your church!
This series walks through Paul’s letters to the Thessalonians, showing how hope in Jesus anchors our faith, carries us through hardship, and transforms our lives. Together, we’ll see why hope is more than a feeling—it’s a way of following Jesus every day.
This is how the 1 & 2 Thessalonians series breaks down:
PART 1: LIVING IN HOPE
On his second missionary journey, Paul brought the hope of Jesus into cities like Thessalonica. The people there joined him in a new kind of journey—a life-changing journey with Jesus. That same journey continues for us today.
When we recognize that following Jesus is the greatest journey we could ever be on, our hope grows. This hope carries us through roadblocks, strengthens our faith, and shapes us to become more like Jesus. It invites us to live fully committed—all-in—as we begin this series on Hope.
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 1:1–10; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–14; 1 Thessalonians 5:8; Acts 17:1–9; Romans 5:1–5; Hebrews 10:23

PART 2: PERSEVERING IN HOPE
As we continue our Thessalonians series on Hope, we look at how our hope in Jesus helps us persevere through hard times, challenges, and setbacks. When we place our hope in Jesus, we not only keep going through difficulties, but we also learn to stand firm and remain steadfast no matter what comes against us. Through our hope in Jesus, we shine his light in the darkness and point others to him.
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:14–16, 1 Thessalonians 3:3–5, 1 Thessalonians 5:5, 11, 2 Thessalonians 1:3–5, 2 Thessalonians 2:15, Matthew 5:14–16, Acts 17:5–9

PART 3: TRANSFORMING IN HOPE
As we continue our focus on Hope, we see that the Apostle Paul is encouraged because he knows Jesus is changing hearts in the Thessalonian church. He urges them to keep allowing God to lead them into greater holiness. In the same way, Jesus is able and willing to change our hearts today—bringing real transformation, helping us overcome areas where we struggle, and shaping us to become more like him. Transformation fuels hope, and hope in Jesus leads to lasting transformation.
Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 2:12, 1 Thessalonians 3:12–13, 1 Thessalonians 4:1–8, 1 Thessalonians 5:23–24, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, Romans 12:1–2

PART 4: HOPE IS OUR GOLDEN TICKET
Our greatest hope is found in the truth that God’s eternal promise through Jesus is a done deal. When we accept Jesus as Savior and Lord, it’s like receiving the best golden ticket ever—a ticket that gives us hope for today and an eternal future with God.
Knowing that our future with God is secure should shape how we live right now. Even when challenges come against us, we can stand firm because we hold that golden ticket. Our eternal future with Jesus—and our present hope in him—calls us to live fully committed, all-in, starting today. Jesus is our greatest hope. Let’s live like it.
