This free Bible study is designed to help students learn applicable life lessons from four of Jesus’ most famous parables.
Here is how the Parables Bible Study and Small Groups Break Down:
Week 1: Salt of the Earth
Salt is an influencer of flavor. It brings out the best in every food. You don’t realize it, but it’s what makes most food taste good. From french fries to steaks to pizza to cookies, salt brings out the best of their flavors. Who does Jesus say is the salt of the earth? You! This means that you should bring out the best in people.
Scripture: Matthew 5:13
Week 2: Light of the World
No matter how much darkness is surrounding us, a little bit of light will draw it out. John 1:5 says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Sadly, our world can be full of darkness— bullying at school, depression, destructive lies, broken relationships, and so much pain. Be the light by illuminating those dark situations. Reveal God’s goodness everywhere you go.
Scripture: Matthew 5:14-16
Week 3: Treasure
In this short parable, Jesus explains that a relationship with God is like a hidden treasure. It’s not just good— it’s worth sacrificing everything for. God’s Kingdom is like a hidden treasure in a field. Once you experience it, it’s worth sacrificing anything to make it your top priority.
Scripture: Matthew 13:44
Week 4: One Lost Sheep
Never underestimate God’s passionate pursuit for His people. Whenever you are feeling outcast, alone, average, not-good-enough, or inadequate, remind yourself that you are the one. Jesus chased after you even when it didn’t make sense. You might feel like no one notices you, but Jesus does. He desires a relationship with you, and He will go to great lengths to make that happen.
Scripture: Luke 15:3-7
