Here is a free Anxiety sermon series for your youth group.
Anxiety rears its ugly head when we face stress at school, conflict within personal relationships, pain from past experiences, fear about a future event, or even just a general sense of uncertainty. We know how it starts, but how do we make it stop?
In this series, we will study Paul’s letter to the Philippians and the psychology of anxiety to help our students learn to cope with anxiety and stress.
This is how the anxiety sermon series breaks down:
Week 1: When Anxiety Attacks
Anxiety is a bully. Using the magic of your imagination, anxiety can make your heart race and your palms sweat. In this message, we’ll examine two powerful weapons against anxiety — prayer and thanksgiving.
Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7
Week 2: How to Transform your Thinking
Stress isn’t always bad — it’s how our body deals with danger. It can be beneficial, but it’s not supposed to be our constant state of emotion. In this sermon, we will discuss mental practices that we can use to overcome stress and anxiety.
Scripture: Philippians 4:8-9
Week 3: Fighting Negative Feelings
We’ve talked about tricks and tactics to help us overcome stress. Sure, those are helpful. However, sometimes our emotions are too strong for grounding and positive thinking. That’s why God offers divine intervention through your “advocate” — the Holy Spirit.
Scripture: John 14:25-27, Lamentations 3:22-23, 1 Thess. 5:11, Psalm 139:14
