THIS IS HOW THE FREE SERMON ON WORK AS WORSHIP BREAKS DOWN:
Made for the Mundane
Everybody’s working for the weekend — six in ten Gen Z workers now call their job a “situationship,” and even the most meaningful work can feel like a grind. But Genesis 2 reveals our original job assignment: to cultivate and guard the beauty of God’s creation, working alongside a God who walked the garden in the cool of the day. The Hebrew word for that work, abad, is the same word the Old Testament uses for worship — in God’s design, work and worship were one. The fall tore them apart, turning cultivation into toil that no HR policy or benefits plan can fix. This message reveals how Jesus redeems the purpose of work, why you can bring your whole soul to the most mundane Monday task, and how inviting God into your best and worst moments at work turns the ordinary into an altar where His presence shows up.
Scripture: Genesis 2:10-15; Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3:17-19; Colossians 3:23-24; Matthew 22:37
