10 Days of Christmas for Pastors

3-MINUTE REFLECTIONS FOR PASTORS THIS CHRISTMAS

As pastors prepare to lead others through the Christmas season, it’s easy to focus on what must be done rather than what has already been given. This 10 Days of Christmas series invites you into ten short video devotionals—each one centered on a fruit of the Spirit from Galatians 5. These virtues are not goals to achieve, but gifts made possible through Jesus Christ, the One we celebrate at Christmas. As you remain connected to him, the Spirit continues to shape and develop these beautiful gifts in your life—blessing not only you, but also the people you serve. Our hope is that these daily moments of reflection help fill your heart as you lead with faith, love, and joy this season.

DAY 1: LOVE

On the first day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... LOVE.

This gift of love was wrapped up in the person named Jesus. It is the God-kind of love, called Agape love, which isn't seasonal and isn't based on performance. This holy love is a decision, a choice, to offer grace and love even when it's undeserved and not reciprocated.

DAY 2: JOY

On the second day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... JOY.

Joy is not the same as happiness. While happiness is a fleeting feeling, joy is a conscious choice that can remain steady in every circumstance. The strength to choose joy does not come from us. As we’re reminded in Nehemiah, the joy of the Lord is our strength. Choosing joy in the middle of a busy season—when you feel overwhelmed or stretched thin—becomes a source of renewal rather than exhaustion.

DAY 3: PEACE

On the third day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... PEACE.

The peace Jesus gives is not dependent on safety, silence, or ideal circumstances. It is the kind of peace that remains steady in the middle of life’s storms and reminds us that God will never leave nor forsake us. Jesus told us we would face trouble and trials in this world—but his presence makes all the difference, because he has already overcome the world. This peace goes beyond understanding and guards our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. We don’t have to fight for peace; we learn to live from it as we stay aligned with God. Peace is not a place we arrive at, but a person we walk with daily—and his name is Jesus.

DAY 4: PATIENCE

On the fourth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... PATIENCE.

Patience is more than waiting—it shapes how we see and respond to the people around us. Because God is patient and his Spirit lives within us, we are given the strength to remain patient even when the season feels rushed, demanding, or overwhelming. As we stay connected to Christ, the Spirit forms patience in us moment by moment.

DAY 5: KINDNESS

On the fifth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... KINDNESS.

Kindness is the language of heaven and a defining mark of life in God’s kingdom. It often costs us convenience, pride, or the need to be right—but it changes the atmosphere wherever it is practiced. "Kingdom kindness" does not wait to be deserved. It reflects the heart of Jesus, who showed mercy, love, and forgiveness first. Each act of kindness becomes a quiet declaration that our hearts belong to Christ.

DAY 6: GOODNESS

On the sixth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... GOODNESS.

Goodness goes beyond kind words or simple actions—it reflects the character of God himself. Because God is good, and his Spirit lives within us, we are invited to live in ways that are pure, right, and life-giving. In the middle of this busy season, goodness reminds us that God is still at work in and through us, shaping our hearts to reflect his goodness to the world.

DAY 7: FAITHFULNESS

On the seventh day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... FAITHFULNESS.

From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture reminds us that God is faithful. Faithfulness is not just something God does—it is who he is. When God makes a promise, he keeps it. When God begins a work in us, he finishes it. Even when our faith feels weak or uncertain, God remains steady. His faithfulness does not depend on our strength, and his mercy is new every morning.

DAY 8: GENTLENESS

On the eighth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... GENTLENESS.

Gentleness is often mistaken for weakness, but Scripture shows us the opposite. Gentleness is strength under control. God reveals his power not through dominance, but through care—sheltering, protecting, and guiding his people with compassion. Jesus modeled this gentle strength as he healed the broken, welcomed the outcast, and led with humility. In seasons of pressure or frustration, the Spirit invites us to respond not with harshness, but with the gentle strength that reflects the heart of Christ.

DAY 9: SELF CONTROL

On the ninth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... SELF CONTROL.

Self-control is a quiet but essential gift that keeps us steady and aligned with God’s heart. It is not about restriction or trying harder, but about yielding to the Spirit’s work within us. Through the Spirit of God, we are empowered to master what once mastered us. God’s grace teaches us how to live self-controlled lives in the present age, shaping us into people who are led by the Spirit rather than ruled by our desires.

DAY 10: CHRIST, OUR SAVIOR

On the tenth day of Christmas, my Savior gave to me... HIMSELF.

The greatest gift of Christmas is not something we strive for or produce—it is Christ himself. On the night of his birth, the angels announced good news of great joy for all people: a Savior has been born, the Messiah and Lord. Today, we pause to remember Jesus—God with us, the reason for our hope, and the reason we serve. Every gift of the Spirit flows from this one truth: Christ has come.

Prayer for Reflection: Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ, given to us on this Christmas Day. Help me slow down and truly receive the greatest gift of all—your presence with us. As I remember the joy announced by the angels, let that good news renew my heart and refocus my calling. May my life and ministry reflect Christ himself, the reason I serve and the hope of the world. Amen.
