Free Jonah Devotional for Students

Jonah Devotional for Youth
Here is a free Jonah Devotional that was written for students and youth ministries.

What happens when following Jesus means doing something you don’t want to do? Whether it’s traveling to a foreign land or just talking to someone about faith in the cafeteria, God’s calling can be uncomfortable. When we choose obedience over resistance, we will experience outstanding repercussions.

Jonah’s name means “dove.” I find this very fitting as he was prone to flying away from his responsibilities. Just like when birds freak out before a blizzard, Jonah was prone to freak out whenever God gave him direction. He loved running in the opposite direction, honestly. For the most part, here is a little bit of Jonah in all of us. There are things that God has called us to that we want to run away from.

Why did we write this Jonah devotional?

The story of Jonah is a reminder to run towards all God has for you. Run towards your calling. Chase the dream God gave you. Run towards those things that you think will be challenging because they might actually change you. If God is calling you to something, you had better run towards it.

Jonah is not just a story about a rebellious prophet and a big fish. It’s a story about a big God’s faithfulness to us, despite our shortcomings.

This Jonah Devotional is perfect for personal study, youth ministry, DNOW, youth group, youth retreats, or social media.
